Why I love Valentine's Day Flowers - A note from the heart
My mom used to send Valentine's Day flowers to me and my sister's school
One of my fondest childhood memories was being called to the front office at school to pick up flowers my mom sent to me. (She did it for my birthday too every year). Those moments drive home a truthful quote by the late Maya Angelou "I've learned people will forget what you said, people will forget what you did, but people will never forget how you made them feel" I truly felt loved and important (not that I didn't feel that way other times, but there was something about that extra mile she took every year). I'm willing to bet that those flowers is one of the reason I adore the fresh scent in my own home and why I stop to smell any flowers I see in a store or at a florist.
Those moments were special because, I don't know about you, but it takes me FOR EVER to pick out the right card (half the time I give up and grab a blank so I can write what I want) and FOR EVER picking out the perfect bouquet of flowers for my mom....(~whispering~ the thought of the delight that it brings her makes it worth it.")
So when ever I receive a loving text, email, call, card, flowers (no matter what time of year or holiday it is really)....my mind's eye pictures that person stopping what they are doing and taking time out for me...I am so grateful for those moments.
